Contrary to the press statement released by the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, word from Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and another member of the committee, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi has disclosed that five senior staff of the National Assembly was interrogated on Wednesday in relation to the missing budget.
According to reports, the questioned staffs are from the offices of the Clerk to the National Assembly, Clerk to the Senate, Senate Leader and Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate) and Rules and Business.
In the words of Senator Anyanwu;
“We have concluded our investigation and the report will be submitted for everybody to see and we will debate it.”
Similarly, Nwaoboshi categorically stated that the document is missing, in spite of series of denials by the Senate leadership.
“The document is missing; we want to find out. We have interviewed some people so far this morning. We are continuing in the next few minutes with our investigation. We are almost through with it. We will conclude in the next few hours because we have already known what is happening.”
